U.S. and International Submissions

-Competition is open to any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university or any high school student.

-You must have a teacher/instructor from your school sign your entry form. The submitted film does not have to be part of the formal school curriculum.

-A separate entry and a separate fee must be submitted for each film.

-Submission preview copy must be DVD (preferred), or VHS only. One entry per disc or tape.

-Preview tapes and DVDs must be labeled with title, running time and contact information. Please do not send master tapes, film prints, or any originals. Films will not be returned. All submitted tapes and DVDs become property of The Skidmore International Student Film Festival and cannot be returned.

-Foreign films must have English subtitles

-All submitted films must be under 15 minutes long

-All genres are accepted (drama, comedy, animation, documentary, experimental and other).

-There will be no categories, all genres will compete side by side.

-You must have written, directed, produced or edited a film in order to submit it to our festival.

-The winners will be judged by the audience on score cards. Each film will be given a score ranging from 1 to 10. The film with the highest average score wins. This prevents a film from winning because more people attended a particular screening.

-Prizes will be awarded in the form of an American Express gift card.

-The prize for first place will be $500.

-The prize for second place will be $250.

-The entry fee is $15. Films must be received by Friday, March 19th, 2010.



Skidmore Student Submissions

-Skidmore students will compete in the same category as non-Skidmore students, although there is no entry fee for Skidmore students.

-For students who wish to participate, SkidTV will provide training sessions on various elements of film production.

-Everything needed to make a film is available at Skidmore, through Media Services and SkidTV, including, but not limited to:
Cameras, lights, and sound equipment
Dollies and a jib arm
Studio space, with a sound suite and a green-screen
Digital editing facilities

-The deadline for Skidmore student submissions is Monday, March 22nd.
